This PI is being revised to include the 2007 model year and the Hummer H3. Please discard PIT3585A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
It may be noticed that the km indicator illuminates at vehicle start-up, and interpreted as if the odometer is reading in km. This is a normal bulb check, and the km light is the result of a shared faceplate with export vehicles.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the km indicator goes out after initial start-up, the odometer is registering miles. Likewise, if the km indicator remains illuminated after initial start-up, the odometer is registering km. The odometer cannot be toggled between km and miles. It requires a different IPC and BCM configuration.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
