The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Clunk or rattle noise at the rear of the cab over bumps.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Rear cab underbody flange is hitting or making contact with the frame. This noise could be from the left or right side and is noticed when passengers are riding in the vehicle. If contact is present between the rear of the cab and the frame, perform the following. This applies to regular cab and extended cab vehicles.

Install a shim on top of the body mount and replace the body mount bolt on the side that is contacting the frame.

  1. Remove body mount bolt.
  2. Add shim to the top of the body mount.
  3. Install new body mount bolt.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
