Subject: | Water Leak From HVAC Case On The Passenger Floor |
Models: | 2004-2007 Chevrolet Colorado |
2004-2007 GMC Canyon |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment when taking their truck though a car wash, water may drip on the passenger floor area. Others may comment of soap bubbles from the HVAC vents. This is a result of the HVAC left in the "Fresh Air" mode. Most car washes submerse the vehicle with an excessive amount of water. With this rush of water, the vehicle cowl deflector struggles to divert the water. If the vehicles HVAC is left in "Fresh Air" mode, the water will enter the HVAC case.
To correct this condition, travel through car washes using "Recirculation" mode only. "Recirculation Mode" can only be used in "Bi-Level" and "Vent" HVAC modes.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
