The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Supplement to Bulletin 04-08-57-004 Water on Drivers Floor.
• | A) If sealer is missing in the cowl area, it will be necessary to use 3M 8308 Seam Sealer or equivalent. To use this sealer, it will be necessary to use a spiral applicator to mix the sealer. Also adding a 12" to 16" rubber hose on the end of the applicator may be helpful to get into hard to reach areas. Note: This sealer sets in 10 minutes. |
• | B) If sealer is present and pin holes in the sealer contributes to the leak, use 3M 08633 Window Weld Resealant or Fusor 122EZ or equivalent. Both of theses sealers are flowable type. |
A) Use a gallon jug of water and poor water around the brake booster area. If water is still leaking onto the floor, remove the brake booster. Inspect the seam below/behind the booster for missing sealer. It will be necessary to use 3M 8308 Seam Sealer or equivalent to seal this seam as well.
Note: It may be necessary to remove the left front fender and/or hood to locate any voids and/or to assist with sealing.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
