The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
On rare occasions, excessive oil consumption and/or blue smoke from the exhaust may be experienced.
If the SI diagnosis does not isolate a cause for this concern, inspect for oil in the PCV vacuum pipe (shown below as item # 3).
If oil is present, remove the cam cover and inspect the oil drain back tabs shown below, which are stamped into the PCV baffles. Inspect the tabs to ensure that none of them are bent closed or plugged with debris. These drain back tabs are about 3 mm square. If a concern is found, repair or replace the cam cover as necessary.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
