The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Creaking, rubbing or grinding noise may be heard in the cab and felt in the steering wheel or floor area of the cab. This noise may sound rotational and is noticed more when braking during parking lot maneuvers or aggressive turns. Noise may be generated by one of the cabs body mounts.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Isolate each cab mount by removing one body mount bolt at a time. With only one body mount bolt removed, drive the vehicle to see if the noise has been eliminated. If the noise is still present, reinstall the body bolt that was removed and remove the next body bolt. Once the mount that makes the noise is isolated, spray the mount (not the bolt) with GM Super Lube or equivalent. Reinstall and tighten all the bolts to 115 N·m (85 lb ft).

Note: DO NOT remove more than 1 bolt at a time for evaluation. With only 1 bolt removed, drives should be limited to parking lot maneuvers ONLY.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
