Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the electronic brake control module (EBCM) electrical connector.

  3. Object Number: 2136321  Size: SH
  4. Clean the area around the brake pipe fittings and the EBCM and the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) mating surfaces of any accumulated dirt and debris.
  5. Disconnect the RF brake pipe fitting (1) from the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  6. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  7. Disconnect the RR brake pipe fitting (1) from the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  8. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  9. Disconnect the LR brake pipe fitting (1) from the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  10. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  11. Disconnect the LF brake pipe fitting (1) from the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  12. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  13. Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1) from the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  14. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  15. Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1) from the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  16. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  17. Remove the EBCM/BPMV assembly bracket nuts (1).

  18. Object Number: 2136328  Size: SH
  19. Remove the EBCM/BPMV assembly (1).

  20. Object Number: 2136332  Size: SH
  21. If necessary, remove the BPMV bracket bolts (1).

  22. Object Number: 2136333  Size: SH
  23. If necessary, remove the bracket (1) from the BPMV.
  24. Remove the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 2136333  Size: SH
  3. If removed, install the bracket (1) to the BPMV.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2136332  Size: SH
  5. If removed, install the BPMV bracket bolts (1) and tighten to  11 N·m (97 lb in).

  6. Object Number: 2136328  Size: SH
  7. Install the EBCM/BPMV assembly (1) to the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 2136327  Size: SH
  9. Install the EBCM/BPMV assembly bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  9 N·m (80 lb in).

  10. Object Number: 2136326  Size: SH
  11. Connect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1) to the EBCM/BPMV assembly and tighten to  32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  12. Object Number: 2136325  Size: SH
  13. Connect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1) to the EBCM/BPMV assembly and tighten to  32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  14. Object Number: 2136324  Size: SH
  15. Connect the LF brake pipe fitting (1) to the EBCM/BPMV assembly and tighten to  17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  16. Object Number: 2136323  Size: SH
  17. Connect the LR brake pipe fitting (1) to the EBCM/BPMV assembly and tighten to  17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  18. Object Number: 2136322  Size: SH
  19. Connect the RR brake pipe fitting (1) to the EBCM/BPMV assembly and tighten to  17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  20. Object Number: 2136321  Size: SH
  21. Connect the RF brake pipe fitting (1) to the EBCM/BPMV assembly and tighten to  17 N·m (13 lb ft).
  22. Connect the EBCM electrical connector.
  23. Perform the Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure.
