Power Steering Pump Replacement LLV, LLR

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1207233  Size: SH
  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 2.9L engine or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 3.7L engine.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement for the 2.9L engine or Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.7L engine.
  3. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor harness clip from the pump body.
  5. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  6. Disconnect the power steering pressure hoses from the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 1201379  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  9. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1201379  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1207233  Size: SH
  5. Connect the power steering pressure hoses to the power steering pump. Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  6. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  7. Connect the oil pressure sensor harness clip to the pump body.
  8. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  9. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement for the 2.9L engine or Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.7L engine.
  10. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 2.9L engine or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 3.7L engine.
  11. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  12. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.

Power Steering Pump Replacement LH8

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
  2. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  4. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement.
  5. Remove the engine wiring harness bracket bolt.
  6. Reposition the engine wiring harness bracket out of the way.

  8. Remove the generator bracket bolts (1) and generator bracket (2) with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly attached.

  9. Object Number: 1912336  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  11. Remove the power steering pump bolts (2).
  12. Remove the power steering pump and power steering pump fluid reservoir assembly (3) from the generator bracket.
  13. Separate the power steering pump and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the power steering pump and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 1912336  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering pump and power steering pump fluid reservoir assembly (3) to the generator bracket.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the power steering pump bolts (2) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  6. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 1912335  Size: SH
  8. Install the generator bracket (2) and generator bracket bolts (1) to the vehicle with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly attached. Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
  9. Position the engine wiring harness bracket.
  10. Install the engine wiring harness bracket bolt and tighten to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
  11. Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement.
  12. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  13. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
