Subject:2.8 3.5 LK5 L52 Engine - DTC P0315, Oil Life Monitor Reset and/or Radio Lock Out After Swapping BCM

Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

DTC P0315, Radio Lock Out and/or Oil Life Monitor reset after swapping the Body Control Module from another vehicle.

Recommendation/Instructions:

When the PCM module recognizes a VIN mismatch between the Body Control Module and the Powertrain Control Module, it clears out its crank variation values. Other issues that can occur by doing a BCM module swap can be Radio Lock-out and inadvertent oil life monitor reset.

Please do not perform Body Control Module swaps on this vehicle. If you do and you end up reinstalling the original controller, you will need to run the crank variation relearn on the PCM. If you do and end up needing a new BCM, then follow the BCM replacement procedure in SI and then run the crank variation relearn for the PCM. If however, you get this DTC and have not done any work with the BCM, then follow the published SI procedure for P0315.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
