Owners Manual Error - Oil Life Percentage Displayed on DIC - keywords cluster display indicator IPC manual message PCM

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Owner's Manual states the DIC will show oil life percentage. This is incorrect. The DIC will display "oil life" when the oil needs to be changed. It will never show oil life percentage.

The oil life can be reset per the owner's manual through the DIC. Or it may be set with the Tech II. When using the Tech II, select Powertrain, Engine Type, Transmission Type, Special Functions, Engine output controls, Oil life reset.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
