Front Bumper Fascia Replacement Canyon/Colorado

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1386390  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front bumper (1) assembly. Refer to Front Bumper Replacement .
  3. Remove the push-pins retaining the fascia (2) to the front bumper.
  4. Pull the fascia straight forward to remove.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fascia (2) to the front bumper.
  2. Install the push-pins retaining the fascia to the front bumper.
  3. Install the front bumper (1) assembly. Refer to Front Bumper Replacement .
  4. Lower the vehicle.

Front Bumper Fascia Replacement XTREME

Tools Required

J 25070 Heat Gun (500-750°F )

Removal Procedure

    Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  1. Apply making tape to protect the painted surfaces.
  2. Remove the front upper grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the center air deflector.
  5. Remove the push-pins in the center of the fascia, located in the center the of lower grille.
  6. Disconnect the fog lamp electrical connectors.
  7. Remove the push-pins from the left and right sides edges.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Remove the front fascia.
  10.         Important: The top center of the fascia is retained by an adhesive strip tape.

    9.1. Heat the center of the fascia using a J 25070 . Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from surface.
    9.2. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
    9.3. Using a flat-bladed tool, roll the center edge of the fascia surface upward to release it from the bumper.
  11. Pull the fascia straight forward to remove.
  12. Remove all adhesive from the back of the fascia using a 3M™ Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  13. If replacing the fascia, the following parts will have to be transferred:
  14. • Remove the fog lamp grilles. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Insert Replacement .
    • Remove the lower grille. Refer to Front Bumper Lower Fascia Grille Replacement .
    • Remove the fog lamps. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  15. Clean the surface of the fascia and bumper using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha.

Installation Procedure

  1. If replacing the fascia, the following parts will have to be transferred:
  2. • Install the fog lamp grilles. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Insert Replacement .
    • Install the lower grille. Refer to Front Bumper Lower Fascia Grille Replacement .
    • Install the fog lamps. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  3. Ensure that the bumper surface and the tape contact areas are clean and dry.
  4. Warm the surface with a heat gun 152 mm (6 in) from the surface to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).
  5. Important: Do NOT touch the adhesive backing.

  6. Apply one side of the adhesive strip backing to the fascia center.
  7. Replace the adhesive tape 150 mm (6 in) long 25 mm (1 in) wide in the center of the fascia.
  8. Peel off the tape liner from the adhesive strip backing.
  9. Position the fascia to the bumper.
  10. Hand roll the fascia over the bumper edge in order to ensure proper adhesion in the center.
  11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  12. Install the push-pins to the left and right sides to retainers.
  13. Connect the electrical to the fog lamps.
  14. Install the center air deflector.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Install the front upper grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  17. Access the fog lamp vertical adjuster. Refer to Fog Lamp Aiming in Lighting Systems.
