Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
- Disconnect the fuel return hose/pipe (1) from the fuel rail. Refer to
Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Disconnect the atmospheric vent hose (2) from
the fuel pressure regulator (3).
- Clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator (3) and the surrounding
area.
- Remove the fuel pressure regulator screws (4, 5).
- Pull the fuel pressure regulator (3) and O-ring seal (2)
from the fuel rail (1).
Discard the O-ring seal (2).
- Pull the fuel rail return pipe (6) and O-ring seal (7)
from the fuel pressure regulator (3).
Discard the O-ring seal (7).
- Inspect the regulator filter screen for contamination. If contaminated,
replace the fuel pressure regulator.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new fuel pressure regulator filter.
- Lightly lubricate the O-ring seals (2, 7) with mineral oil
GM P/N 9981704.
- Install the new O-ring seals (2, 7) to the following:
• | The fuel pressure regulator (3) |
• | The fuel rail return pipe (6) |
- Press the fuel rail return pipe (6) and O-ring seal (7)
into the fuel pressure regulator (3).
- Press the fuel pressure regulator (3) and O-ring seal (2)
into the fuel rail (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the fuel pressure regulator screws (4, 5).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel pressure regulator screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Connect the atmospheric vent hose (2) to the fuel
pressure regulator (3).
- Connect the fuel return hose/pipe (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to
Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Inspect for leaks.
9.1. | Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds. |
9.2. | Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds. |
9.3. | Turn ON the ignition. |
9.4. | Inspect for fuel leaks. |
