Did you review the Power Windows Description and Operation?

Verify that the driver door power window is inoperative.

Does the driver door power window operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are the power door locks inoperative also?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the driver window motor.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the power window motor left front up control circuit of the driver window motor harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.
  5. Activate the driver window switch to the UP position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front up control circuit of the driver window motor harness connector and the power window motor left front down control circuit of the driver window motor harness connector.
  2. Activate the driver window switch to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the drivers switch assembly for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Test the power window motor left front up control circuit of the driver window motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Test the power window motor left front down control circuit of the driver window motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver switch assembly ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver window motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver window switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver window motor. Refer to Front Side Door Window Regulator Motor Replacement .
