Removal Procedure
Caution: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module
(SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with
the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct
installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary
SIR system repairs.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling .
- Remove the floor console. Refer to
Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Cut the carpet along the "I" cut pattern over the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).
- Fold the carpet back to expose the SDM.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the SDM (1).
- Remove the nuts (2) retaining the SDM (1) to the floor studs (3).
