J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the generator. Refer to
Generator Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 2.8L or
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
- Disconnect the compressor electrical connectors.
Important: Some system pressure may still exist in the A/C compressor crankcase after you evacuate the system.
- Remove the discharge hose bolt from the compressor.
- Remove the suction hose from the compressor.
- Remove the compressor hose assembly blocks from the compressor.
- Remove the compressor mounting bolts from the compressor (1).
- Remove the compressor .
- Drain and measure the compressor oil. Refer to
Compressor Oil Balancing
.
Installation Procedure
- Adjust the proper amount of oil to the replacement compressor. Refer to
Refrigerant System Capacities
.
- Install the compressor.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the compressor mounting bolts to the compressor (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the compressor hose assembly blocks to the compressor.
- Install the suction hose to the compressor
- Install the discharge hose bolt to the compressor (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
- Connect the compressor electrical connectors.
- Install the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 2.8L or
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
- Install the generator. Refer to
Generator Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A
.
