The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may experience a whine or hiss noise heard in the headphones on vehicles equipped with a GM Accessories Headrest DVD system. This noise may change with engine RPM and is often described as an alternator whine.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Accessories Engineering has identified a filter harness assembly to resolve this issue. This harness is expected to be available 2008 Q4. At this time, GM Accessories Headrest DVD System components should not be replaced in an attempt to resolve. Field
communications will be issued once this harness is released.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
