Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Pipe Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Hose/Pipe Connection Cleaning Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1772037  Size: SH
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief.
  2. Disconnect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting (1) from the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  3. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) line quick connect fitting (2) from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

  4. Object Number: 1766567  Size: SH
  5. If equipped with an automatic transmission perform the following steps, disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe clips (1) from the oil level indicator tube bracket and the engine wiring harness bracket.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  7. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe clip (2) from the fuel pipe bracket.
  8. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe clip (3) from the transmission range selector lever bracket.

  10. If equipped with a manual transmission perform the following steps, disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe clips (1) from the oil level indicator tube bracket and the engine wiring harness bracket.
  11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  12. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe clips (1 and 2) from the fuel pipe brackets.

  14. Disconnect the chassis fuel feed (2) and EVAP (1) line quick connect fittings from the engine lines. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  15. Remove the EVAP/fuel engine line assembly from the vehicle.

  16. Object Number: 1772039  Size: SH
  17. Open the fuel feed and EVAP line clips (1).
  18. Remove the EVAP line (3) from the clips.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1772039  Size: SH
  1. Install the EVAP line (3) to the clips.
  2. Close the fuel feed and EVAP line clips (1).
  3. Position the EVAP/fuel line assembly up into the engine compartment along the engine and transmission.

  4. Object Number: 1766566  Size: SH
  5. Connect the chassis fuel feed (2) and EVAP (1) line quick connect fittings to the engine lines. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  6. Object Number: 1766568  Size: SH
  7. If equipped with a manual transmission perform the following steps, engage the EVAP/fuel pipe clips (1 and 2) to the fuel pipe brackets.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Engage the EVAP/fuel pipe clips (1) to the oil level indicator tube bracket and the engine wiring harness bracket.

  10. Object Number: 1766567  Size: SH
  11. If equipped with an automatic transmission perform the following steps, engage the EVAP/fuel pipe clip (3) to the transmission range selector lever bracket.
  12. Engage the EVAP/fuel pipe clip (2) to the fuel pipe bracket.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Engage the EVAP/fuel pipe clips (1) to the oil level indicator tube bracket and the engine wiring harness bracket.

  15. Object Number: 1772037  Size: SH
  16. Connect the EVAP line quick connect fitting (2) to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  17. Connect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  18. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
  19. 14.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    14.2. Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
    14.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    14.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
