Removal Procedure

  1. Lower the midgate window.
  2. Remove the rear floor trim panel. Refer to Rear Floor Trim Panel Trim Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Open the midgate.

  4. Object Number: 1236624  Size: SH
  5. Lift up the midgate sliding hinge filler panel. Slide the panel retainers (1) up to hold the sliding panel in position.

  6. Object Number: 1236621  Size: SH
  7. Lift the midgate until the holes in the hinge assembly are alignment.
  8. Install 5 mm (0.196 in) pins (2) or allen wrench through the holes in each hinge (1) to support the midgate.

  9. Object Number: 1243191  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the midgate electrical connector (1).
  11. With an assistant supporting the midgate, remove the nuts (2) retaining the midgate hinges to the floor.
  12. With an assistant, remove the midgate (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1243191  Size: SH
  1. With an assistant, install the midgate (3) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. With an assistant supporting the midgate, install the nuts (2) retaining the midgate to the floor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the midgate hinge to body nuts to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Connect the midgate electrical connector (1).

  7. Remove the pins (2) from the midgate hinge (1) supporting the midgate.
  8. Open the midgate.

  9. Object Number: 1236624  Size: SH
  10. Press the midgate sliding hinge filler panel retainers (1) down to release the sliding panel.
  11. Close the midgate.
  12. Install the rear floor trim panel. Refer to Rear Floor Trim Panel Trim Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  13. Raise the midgate window.
  14. Inspect for proper fit and operation of the midgate and midgate window.
