Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear floor trim panel. Refer to
Rear Floor Trim Panel Trim Cover Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Disconnect the midgate electrical connector.
- Remove the midgate handle. Refer to
Assist Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the screw retaining the midgate inner
panel to the midgate.
- Release the clips retaining the midgate inner panel to the midgate structure.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the midgate latch
release switch.
- Remove the midgate harness grommet (2) from the midgate inner panel.
- Remove the midgate latch release from the midgate inner panel. Refer to
Midgate Latch Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the midgate inner panel from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the midgate inner panel to the vehicle.
- Install the midgate latch release switch to the midgate inner panel. Refer
to
Midgate Latch Switch Replacement
.
- Install the midgate harness grommet (2) to the midgate inner panel.
- Connect the electrical connector (1) to the midgate latch release
switch.
- Align the midgate inner panel to the midgate structure.
- Install the midgate inner panel to the midgate structure by pressing on
the inner panel until the retaining clips are fully seated in the midgate structure.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screw retaining the midgate inner panel to the midgate.
Tighten
Tighten the inner panel screw to 3 N·m
(27 lb in).
- Install the midgate handle. Refer to
Assist Handle Replacement
.
- Connect the midgate electrical connector.
- Install the rear floor trim panel. Refer to
Rear Floor Trim Panel Trim Cover Replacement
in Interior Trim.
