DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC B3966 Endgate Window Position Sensor

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The endgate module detects that there are no hall sensor pulses or there is a difference between signal 1 and signal 2.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Stores a current DTC B3966 in endgate module memory.
    • Stores a history DTC B3966 in endgate module memory.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The endgate module no longer detects a current DTC B3966 in endgate module memory.
    • The DTC is cleared using a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

    • The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
       - There is an intermittent sticking or binding condition in the window motor causing the motor to be unable to move.
       - The window motor is shorted internally.
    • If the DTC does not reset after the code is cleared, then the problem may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
