Removal Procedure
- Open the endgate (drop mode). Secure with the prop rod.
- Remove the right rear tail lamp assembly. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the bolt (2) retaining the endgate harness to the body.
- Remove the endgate harness grommet (3) from the body, but do not disconnect the harness.
- Remove the endgate support cable. Refer to Endgate Cable Replacement .
- Remove the bolt (1) retaining the hinge assemblies to the endgate.
- Remove the upper hinge strap screw (2) retaining the body side hinge to the endgate side hinge.
- Close the endgate.
- Open the endgate (swing mode).
- Remove the endgate torque rod. Refer to Endgate Torque Rod Replacement .
- Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the endgate control module. Refer to Rear Body Control Module Replacement - Endgate .
- Remove the inner panel reinforcement. Refer to Endgate Inner Panel Reinforcement Replacement .
- Remove the endgate wedge. Refer to Endgate Wedge Replacement - Endgate Side .
- Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Remove the endgate window outer sealing strip. Refer to Endgate Window Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .
- Remove the endgate window reveal molding. Refer to Endgate Window Reveal Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the endgate window. Refer to Endgate Window Replacement .
- Remove the endgate window regulator. Refer to Endgate Window Regulator Replacement .
- Remove the endgate window run channels. Refer to Window Run Channels Replacement - Endgate Lower .
- Remove the endgate license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
- Remove the left upper endgate latch. Refer to Endgate Latch Replacement - Left Side Upper .
- Remove the left lower endgate latch. Refer to Endgate Latch Replacement - Left Side Lower .
- Remove the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Remove the endgate harness. Refer to Endgate Wiring Harness Replacement .
- Remove the lower hinge strap bolt (1) retaining the body side hinge to the endgate hinge.
- With an assistant holding the endgate, manually release the right hand upper latch (2), by sliding the release lever (1) using a flat-bladed tool.
- With an assistant, lift the endgate (2) off the integral locating pins (1) on the hinge.
- Place the endgate assembly on a clean protected surface.
- Remove the right side upper latch bracket assembly from the endgate. Refer to Endgate Latch Replacement - Right Side Upper .
- Remove the hinge from the endgate. Refer to Endgate Lower Hinge Replacement - Endgate Side .
Installation Procedure
- Install the hinge to the endgate. Refer to Endgate Lower Hinge Replacement - Endgate Side .
- Install the right side upper latch bracket assembly to the endgate. Refer to Endgate Latch Replacement - Right Side Upper .
- With an assistant, place the endgate (2) on the integral location pin (1) on the hinge.
- With an assistant, secure the right upper latch to the striker, ensuring the latch is fully latched.
- Install the lower hinge strap bolt (1) retaining body side hinge to the endgate hinge.
- Install the endgate harness. Refer to Endgate Wiring Harness Replacement .
- Install the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Install the endgate license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
- Install the left lower endgate latch. Refer to Endgate Latch Replacement - Left Side Lower .
- Install the left upper endgate latch. Refer to Endgate Latch Replacement - Left Side Upper .
- Install the endgate window run channels. Refer to Window Run Channels Replacement - Endgate Lower .
- Install the endgate window regulator. Refer to Endgate Window Regulator Replacement .
- Install the endgate window. Refer to Endgate Window Replacement .
- Install the endgate window reveal molding. Refer to Endgate Window Reveal Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
- Install the endgate window outer sealing strip. Refer to Endgate Window Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .
- Install the rear wiper arm. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Install the endgate wedge assembly. Refer to Endgate Wedge Replacement - Endgate Side .
- Install the inner panel reinforcement. Refer to Endgate Inner Panel Reinforcement Replacement .
- Install the endgate control module. Refer to Rear Body Control Module Replacement - Endgate .
- Install the endgate torque rod. Refer to Endgate Torque Rod Replacement .
- Carefully close the endgate, ensuring the latches are fully engaged.
- Perform an endgate window learn cycle. Refer to Endgate Window Learn Cycle .
- Open the endgate (drop mode). Secure with the prop rod.
- Install the upper hinge strap screw (2) retaining the body side hinge to the endgate side hinge.
- Install the bolt (1) retaining the hinge assemblies to the endgate.
- Install the endgate support cable. Refer to Endgate Cable Replacement .
- Install the endgate harness grommet (3) to the body.
- Install the bolt (2) retaining the endgate harness to the body.
- Install the right rear tail lamp assembly. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Inspect and adjust the endgate alignment. Refer to Endgate Adjustment .
- Inspect and adjust the endgate window. Refer to Endgate Window Cross Car Adjustment , to Endgate Window Fore/Aft Adjustment and to Endgate Window Up/Down Adjustment .
- Adjust the endgate wedges. Refer to Endgate Wedge Replacement - Endgate Side .
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the lower hinge strap bolt to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the upper hinge strap screw to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the hinge bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the endgate harness bolt to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
