Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Remove the rear brake hose fitting bolt from the rear brake caliper.
- Cap the brake hose fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
Important: Discard the copper gaskets. DO NOT reuse the copper , replace them.
- Remove the copper gaskets from the brake hose fitting bolt.
- Remove the rear brake caliper guide pin bolts.
- Remove the rear brake caliper from the brake caliper bracket.
Installation Procedure
- If the brake caliper guide pin is to be reused, clean the brake caliper guide pin using denatured alcohol,
or equivalent.
- Dry the brake caliper guide pin using non-lubricated, filtered air.
- Apply high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pin. DO NOT apply lubricant to the brake pad hardware.
- Install the rear brake caliper assembly to the bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the rear brake caliper guide pin bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).
- Install the NEW copper gaskets on the brake hose fitting.
- Remove the plug from the brake hose end.
- Install the brake hose fitting and fitting bolt to the rear brake caliper.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
