Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Clean the all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose and brake pipe fittings.
  4. Using a backup wrench, remove the rear brake hose from the brake pipe.
  5. Important: Installing a rubber plug and/or cap fitting to the exposed brake pipe fitting ends will prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Install the rubber plug and/or cap on the rear brake pipe fitting.

  8. Remove the brake line retaining bolt at the frame.

  9. Object Number: 789338  Size: SH
  10. Remove the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper.
  11. Important:  The metal gaskets maybe stuck to either the brake caliper or the brake hose end. Ensure that these gaskets are remove from the brake hose end and the brake caliper.

  12. Remove the metal/copper gaskets from the brake hose end.
  13. Discard the metal/copper gaskets
  14. Remove and discard the metal/copper gaskets.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 789338  Size: SH

    Important: DO NOT reuse the old meta/copper gaskets. Use only NEW metal, copper, gaskets.

  1. Install the NEW metal/copper gaskets to the rear brake caliper bolt.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the rear brake hose to the rear brake caliper.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear brake bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  5. Remove the rubber plug and/or cap from the rear brake pipe fitting.

  6. Object Number: 789495  Size: SH
  7. Install the brake pipe to the brake hose.
  8. Using a backup wrench, install the rear brake pipe to the brake hose.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the rear brake pipe fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Install the brake pipe retaining bolt at the frame.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe retaining bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  12. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  13. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  14. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
