Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement .
  2. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the liftgate to body wiring harness connector. Refer to Liftgate Wiring Harness Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 1344407 Size: SH
  4. Remove the liftgate hinge pivot retainers (1) from the liftgate hinge pivots.
  5. With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate from the body side hinge by sliding the liftgate to the left disengaging the hinge pivots from the bushings.
  6. Place the liftgate on a clean, protected surface.

  7. Remove the liftgate hinge bushings (1) from the liftgate hinges.
  8. Remove the lift hinge pivots (2) from the liftgate hinges.

    9. Object Number: 1344406 Size: SH
  9. Remove the hinge pivots (1) from the body side hinges.
  10. Remove the hinge bushings (2) from the body side hinges.

    11. Object Number: 1344402 Size: SH
  11. Remove the nuts retaining the body side hinges (1) to the body.
  12. Remove the body side hinges from the body.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1344402 Size: SH
  1. Install the body side hinges (1) to the body.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the nuts retaining the body side hinges to the body.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the body side hinge nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the hinge pivots (1) to the body side hinges.
  4. Install the hinge bushings (2) to the body side hinges.

    5. Object Number: 1344405 Size: SH
  5. Install the hinge bushings (1) to the liftgate hinges.
  6. Install the hinge pivots (2) to the liftgate hinges.

    7. Object Number: 1344407 Size: SH
  7. With the aid of an assistant, install the liftgate to the body side hinge by inserting the hinge pivots into the hinge bushings and sliding the liftgate to the right.
  8. Install the liftgate hinge pivot retainers (1) to the liftgate hinge pivots.
  9. Connect the liftgate to the body wiring harness connector. Refer to Liftgate Wiring Harness Replacement .
  10. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
  11. Install the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement .
