The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Belt squeal or squeak noise at random conditions. This noise may be due to an idler bracket casting issue, which can cause a misaligned idler pulley and therefore, a belt noise.
.
If the 11th digit of the VIN is a 2 and the last 6 of the VIN is less than 229234; or if the 11th digit of the VIN is a 6 and the last 6 of the VIN is less than 152874, inspect the idler bracket casting number. This is a single digit that is stamped on the idler bracket, just to the right of the circular "sundial" symbol. It is not the "02" that is stamped inside of the circular "sundial" symbol. If the idler bracket casting number is a 2, replace the serpentine belt and idler bracket for evaluation of the noise.
.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
