Information on Installing Goodwrench LL8 Engine Assembly Part Number 89017685 - Instruction Sheet and Labor Times for Transferring Engine Parts

This bulletin is being revised to inform technicians that engine assembly part number 89017685 is no longer available for 2002 and 2003 model year vehicles. Refer to the parts catalog for new engine assembly part numbers. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-06-01-005 (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).

This bulletin is being published to aid technicians if the instruction sheet is missing and provides a labor time for transferring the engine parts before installing the engine. A 2005 model year 4.2L Goodwrench® engine will be received if a replacement engine is ordered for a 2004 4.2L engine equipped vehicle. The part number of this engine is 89017685 and it should come with an installation instruction sheet, which describes what parts have to be transferred before it is installed in a 2004 vehicle. If this instruction sheet is misplaced, a copy of the instructions is included below.

The installation instruction sheet states:

This 2005 Inline 6 Cylinder 4.2L (LL8) Goodwrench® Engine Assembly Part Number 89017685 is for the use on 2004 equipped vehicle.

Important: Reference Service Manual repair instructions for proper replacement procedures. Follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

- For the 2004 application, the Fuel Injector Rail Assembly and the Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Assembly must be changed to 2004 content.
