The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may complain of an "oil canning" or pop noise from the seat back. This noise could typically occur as pressure is added to the front side of either the drivers or passengers seat back. The cause of the noise is a change in seat back support material. The current design uses cardboard backing that can crease and make this noise as it travels across the seat frame.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Remove the seat back cover. Locate the cardboard attaching point where the cardboard appears to be creased. Trim and remove the cardboard attaching wing in the area of the concern to eliminate this noise. Only eliminate the wing(s) that appear to be crease.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
