The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that after their vehicle was serviced, the automatic headlamps do not turn on until the shifter is placed into gear (out of the Park position) or manually with the switch on the instrument panel. This may occur if the BCM was replaced for any reason. The service BCM for most 2006 model year vehicles will reflect the automatic light operation of the 2007 model vehicles. This new operation allows the automatic headlamps to turn on only when the shifter is placed into gear or using the manual switch.

Recommendation/Instructions:

This is normal operation. Compare operation to a 2007 model or newer vehicle if necessary to show the customer this new operation is normal.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
