Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Remove the front brake hose fitting bolt.
- Cap the brake hose fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Discard the copper gaskets. DO NOT reuse them replace with NEW copper gaskets.
- Remove the front brake caliper guide pin bolts.
- Remove the front brake caliper from the bracket.
Installation Procedure
- If the brake caliper guide pin is to be reused, clean the brake caliper guide pin using denatured alcohol,
or equivalent.
- Dry the brake caliper guide pin using non-lubricated, filtered air.
- Apply high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pin. DO NOT apply lubricant to the brake pad hardware.
- Install the front brake caliper to the bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Tighten the leading bolt, closest to the bleed screw, first.
- Install the front brake caliper guide pins bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
Important: DO NOT reuse the metal/copper gaskets. Use only new copper gaskets.
- Install the NEW copper gaskets to the front brake hose fitting.
- Install the front brake hose fitting bolt and gaskets.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
