Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 731542  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove and discard the upper ball joint to upper control arm bolt and nut.
  4. Separate the upper control arm from the steering knuckle.
  5. Remove the wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the upper control arm. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.
  6. If servicing the left upper control arm, remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 1412477  Size: SH
  8. Gently pry out on inner fender body panel to access forward facing bolt.

  9. Object Number: 731548  Size: SH
  10. Remove the upper control arm mounting bolts.
  11. Remove the upper control arm.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 731548  Size: SH
  1. Install the upper control arm.

  2. Object Number: 1412477  Size: SH
  3. Gently pry out on inner fender to access the forward facing bolt.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the upper control arm mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the upper control arm mounting bolts to 146 N·m (108 lb ft).

  7. Install the battery tray, if removed. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.

  8. Object Number: 731546  Size: SH
  9. Install the ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness to the upper control arm. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
  10. Connect the upper control arm to the steering knuckle.
  11. Install a new upper ball joint to upper control arm bolt and nut.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the upper ball joint to upper control arm bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  13. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Check the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications .
