Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  2. Remove the horn plunger. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel - Tilt.

  3. Object Number: 408596  Size: SH
  4. Remove the steering wheel redundant control switch mounting screws.

  5. Object Number: 408598  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the steering wheel redundant control switch electrical connector.
  7. Remove the steering wheel redundant control switch from the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 408598  Size: SH
  1. Install the steering wheel redundant control switch to the steering wheel.
  2. Connect the steering wheel redundant control switch electrical connector.

  3. Object Number: 408596  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the steering wheel redundant control switch mounting screws.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the steering wheel redundant control switch mounting screws to 2 N·m (20 lb in).

  6. Install the horn plunger. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel - Tilt.
  7. Install the steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
