Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement Body VIN Type 3

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 735911  Size: SH
  3. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose nut (3).
  4. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose from the compressor (4).
  5. Remove the sealing washers.
  6. Remove the compressor suction hose nut from the accumulator.
  7. Remove the compressor suction hose from the accumulator.
  8. Remove the O-ring seal.
  9. Remove the bolt from the lift bracket.
  10. Remove the nut from the engine stud.

  12. Remove the compressor discharge hose (2) from the condenser (4).
  13. Remove the O-ring seals.
  14. Cap or plug all of the open connections.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 735782  Size: SH
  1. Install new O-ring seals. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the compressor discharge hose (2) to the condenser (4).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the compressor discharge hose nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the hose nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  6. Install the compressor suction hose to the stud on the engine.
  7. Install the nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  9. Install the compressor suction hose to the engine lift bracket.
  10. Install the bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  12. Connect the compressor suction hose (1) to the accumulator.
  13. Install the compressor suction hose nut to the accumulator.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  15. Install the sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  17. Connect the compressor suction/discharge hose to the compressor (4).
  18. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  19. Install the retaining nut (3).
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  21. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  22. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400 .

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 735911  Size: SH
  3. Remove the compressor hose assembly nut (3).
  4. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the compressor (4).
  5. Remove the sealing washers.
  6. Remove the compressor suction hose nut from the accumulator.
  7. Remove the compressor suction hose from the accumulator.
  8. Remove the O-ring seal.
  9. Remove the bolt from the lift bracket.
  10. Remove the nut from the engine stud.

  12. Remove the compressor discharge hose (2) from the condenser (4).
  13. Remove the nut from compressor hose connection in driver wheel opening.
  14. Remove the O-ring seals.
  15. Cap or plug all of the open connections.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 735782  Size: SH
  1. Install new O-ring seals. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the compressor discharge hose (2) to the condenser (4).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the compressor discharge hose nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the hose nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  6. Install the compressor hose to the connector through the driver wheel opening.
  7. Install the nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  9. Install the compressor suction hose to the stud on the engine.
  10. Install the nut.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  12. Install the compressor suction hose to the engine lift bracket.
  13. Install the bolt.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  15. Connect the compressor suction hose (1) to the accumulator.
  16. Install the compressor suction hose nut to the accumulator.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  18. Install the sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  19. Object Number: 735911  Size: SH
  20. Connect the compressor hose assembly hose to the compressor (4).
  21. Install the compressor hose assembly washers.
  22. Install the retaining nut (3).
  23. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  24. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  25. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A .
