Condition

Important: 'GM of Canada' Dealers are not authorized to utilize this service bulletin.

Some customers may comment that they cannot disable the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) feature after following the procedure in the Owner's Manual. This condition may be present after having a Body Control Module (BCM) replaced during a previous service visit. The DRL is disabled in 2002 vehicles by pressing the dome lamp override button four times within six seconds with the ignition switch in the RUN position. A chime sounds to confirm that the DRL system is turned off.

Cause

The DRL system will function as designed for the 2003 model year after a BCM replacement. The headlight switch on 2003 model year vehicles has four positions with a DRL disable position. Due to wiring harness changes between 2002 and 2003 vehicles, the four position switch will not correct the DRL disable feature on 2002 vehicles. Do not replace the headlamp switch to correct this concern.

Correction

Reprogram the BCM with updated calibrations to restore the DRL disable feature. The new calibrations will be available in TIS Version 9.5, scheduled for release on September 7, 2003. The calibrations are electronic calibrations and are NOT available from GMSPO.
