The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Engine No Crank No Start With Possible DTCs P0116 and/or P1682

Recommendation/Instructions:

Inspect the PCM 1 fuse (# 28) in the underhood bussed electrical center. If the PCM 1 fuse has blown and with further testing, a short to ground or a shorted component on power feed circuit 439 has not been found. Inspect ground G108 integrity. G108 is located on the left side of the engine block, below the back of the evap purge valve and approximately 2 inches forward of the starter body. The easiest way to tighten this ground G108 13mm bolt is through the left front wheel well with the weight off the suspension.

Note: If G108 remains open for an extended period, the PCM 1 fuse may blow. When the (ground) circuit #450 is no longer providing a path to ground to G108, ground circuit 450 may find ground elsewhere, causing the fuse to blow. Sometimes the PCM 1 fuse may blow instantly, while other times, it may take several minutes for the fuse to blow. If the PCM 1 fuse has not blown, a loose ground G108 bolt may cause a condition of an intermittent engine no crank with only a starter click.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
