The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
On rare occasions, an extended crank or hard to start condition may be experienced after filling the fuel tank. A SES light with EVAP DTCs may or may not be experienced with this condition. This may be the result of an EVAP purge valve that is not fully
seated in the closed position with the engine off.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the SI diagnostics do not isolate the cause of this concern, apply vacuum to either side of the EVAP purge valve using a handheld vacuum pump while the engine is off to determine if it holds vacuum. If the EVAP purge valve does not hold vacuum, replace
the EVAP purge valve, which is on the left side of the engine.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
