Radio Displays Calibration Error

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Radio displays calibration error after replacing radio. Dealer may also comment the vin relearn under the tech 2 radio special functions menu is missing.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Radio programming for the 2004 has changed. It is necessary to perform SPS programming through tis 2000. Below are the procedures for programming.

  1. With the Tech 2, (plugged into the vehicle) select radio special functions and request info from the radio.
  2. Disconnect Tech 2, open TIS 2000 and select Replace and Program ECU. Dealer to connect RS232 cable to the Tech 2 at this time.
  3. Select Country and HVAC system.
  4. Select RAD for the RADIO.
  5. Select Calibrations and down load to the Tech 2. Remove RS232 cable 6) Re-connect Tech 2 and select service programming then down load calibration.
  6. Re-connect Tech 2 and select service programming, then down load calibration back to the vehicle.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
