The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Models built before February 18th, 2004, (VIN 1GNET16P746198366) are trucks equipped with the rear auxiliary heater core that includes the block style connection fittings. In cases where the auxiliary rear heater core or rear heater lines require replacement, the SPO service replacement part has quick connect style fittings.
Recommendation/Instructions:
To install the replacement component equipped with quick release fittings, order P/N 89023336 quick connect heater tube and 89023343 seal to complete the repair. The seal (89023343) is only needed when the heater core is replaced with a quick release type. SPO has furnished repair instructions with the heater tube service part to assist with the repair process.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
