Beginning in July, 1982, transmission Build Date 184, all 700-R-4 transmissions were built with the following revised parts:
- Spacer plate/valve body gasket - Spacer plate/case gasket - Spacer plate - Oil pump cover assembly - Waved reverse input clutch plate
Use of these parts will provide a more desirable neutral to reverse shift feel.

1. The following chart contains the correct part numbers to service transmissions built both before and after this change:

2. Transmissions which fall within the chart, built prior to breakpoint Build Date 184, which has an objectionable neutral to reverse shift feel can be updated by installing all new design parts shown in the above chart.
3. If the transmission was built after Build Datae 184, (spacer plate identified by a "B") use only the new design parts.
