BLOWER MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

MODELS: 1982 "C" SERIES LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 6.2L V-8 DIESEL ENGINE

The following procedure should be used to replace the blower motor assembly on 1982 GMC Light Duty Trucks equipped with 6.2 liter diesel engine. Partial removal of insulator at bulkhead is required.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect negative battery cables.

2. Remove vacuum canister.

3. Remove three (3) bolts at fuel filter bracket and lay assembly aside for access.

4. Disconnect electrical connectors at bulkhead removing one (1) screw at the harness.

5. Remove blower motor relay, blower resistor and blower ground strap from blower assembly.

6. Remove two (2) nuts at top of insulator cover.

7. Remove all bolts at fender inner skirt including retaining bolts at liquid line and jack assembly and lower the fender skirt.

8. Remove three (3) screws at bottom of insulator cover.

9. Remove heater hose clamps.

10. Remove flap at evaporator opening in cover.

11. Remove the crankcase breather.

12. Discharge the A/C system of refrigerant as outlined in Section 1B of the 1982 Light Duty Truck Shop Manual X-8232.

13. Remove air cleaner and lay aside for access.

14. Pull insulator cover forward for access to blower motor.

15. Remove lower motor as outlined in the 1982 Light Duty Truck Shop Manual X-8232, page 1B-34.

16. Installation is the reverse of removal.
