ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE

Procedures covering this campaign are outlined in Section V of your dealership's "GMC Truck Claims Processing Manual" issued October, 1981.

Dear GMC Truck Owner:

General Motors has determined that some early production GMC C-25 and C,K-35 light duty trucks equipped with 6.2 liter diesel engines (RPO LL4) and 4:56 heavy duty rear axles (RPO HC4) were assembled with the engine oil coolers omitted. The engine oil cooler is standard equipment on light trucks with this engine-axle combination. Absence of the engine oil cooler could decrease useful engine life.

To correct this condition in your vehicle, your GMC Truck Dealer will install the omitted engine oil cooler. The service will be performed at no charge to you. The labor time to complete the installation will be approximately 1-1/2 hours.

Instructions have been sent to your dealer. Parts will be available on August 16, 1982. Please contact your dealer on or after this date to arrange a service date.

The enclosed Owner Reply Card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist them in making the necessary correction to your vehicle in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid owner reply card and returning it to us.

We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products. We urge your prompt attention to this matter.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
