Involved are certain 1984 C/K 15-25, G25 and S/T 15 model trucks equipped with a 700 R4 automatic transmission (RPO MXO) and built within the following assembly plant and VIN break points.

Dear GMC Truck Owner
General Motors has determined that some 1984 C/K 15-25, G2S and S/T 15 model trucks equipped with a 700 R4 automatic transmission (RPO MXO) may have been assembled without a throttle valve bushing in the transmission valve body. A missing bushing can cause erratic shifting. If the transmission continues to be operated in this condition, it could result in premature transmission failure.
To correct this condition on your vehicle, your GMC Truck Dealer will inspect the transmission and if necessry, replace the valve body. This service will be completed for you at no charge.
Instructions for this service have been sent to your GMC Truck Dealer. The labor time to inspect your vehicle is approximately 15 minutes. If the valve body must be replaced, it will take about 1 1/2 hours. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed to process your vehicle.
The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please complete the postage paid reply card and return it to us.
We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
