Console shake may be experienced on some of the models stated above. This condition may be repaired by removing the carpet under the console where the console attaches to the floor pan (Figure No. 1). Carpet removal in this area will allow the console to firmly seat against the floor pan attachment brackets. If this does not fully correct the condition, a new console has been designed. The new console has two metal reinforcement brackets (shown in Figure No. 1) that stiffen the sides and bottom.
To order the new console with the reinforcement brackets, the following part numbers should be used.
15568968 - Blue 15568969 - Dark Maple 15568970 - Gray 15568971 - Saddle
The new console compartments were incorporated into production beginning with the following VIN breakpoints:
Chevrolet - HF 160860 GMC - HF 525704
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
