Some 1988 C/K models may have glove box lights that stay on when the glove box door is closed. This condition may be caused by material in the glove box pressing against the glove box door allowing the light switch to stay activated.
To repair this condition, drill a 3/16 inch hole 3/4 inch deep in the glove box door in the area of the glove box door that contacts the light switch. Push plastic stop fastener, P/N 15607147, into the drilled hole. The plastic stop fastener depresses the light switch an additional 1/16 of an inch, which is enough to eliminate this condition.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
