THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND REPLACES GMC TRUCK SERVICE BULLETIN NUM- BER 88-T-48, ALL COPIES OF WHICH SHOULD BE DISCARDED. A NEW ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE IS PROVIDED.
The brake lamp switch adjustment procedure has been revised for the 1988-89 C/K models. Additional studies have shown that the procedure described below will provide for greater accuracy of adjustment. Whenever the brake lamp switch requires adjustment, the following procedure should be used:
Start Engine
Pull Lever (A) Rearward (Towards back of vehicle) Against its Stop (Figure 1)
Depress Brake Pedal Fully
Release Lever and Brake Pedal
Other areas that may contribute to a misadjusted brake lamp switch are:
A binding condition between the eyelet of the brake booster rod and its attachment pin at the pedal.
Pedal mounting bushings not properly lubricated.
