TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY HOUSING DISTORTS. GMC Truck GMC C Pickup

MODELS: 1988-1989 C/K TRUCKS

Some 1988 and 1989 C/K models may experience a condition where the tail lamp assembly housing can distort around the tail lamp bulb socket. This condition can prevent the removal of the tail lamp bulb. This condition was corrected in production through the introduction of a new tail lamp assembly housing constructed using a material that is less sensitive to higher temperatures. Vehicles built after the VIN breakpoints hsted below have been constructed with the new material.

If this condition occurs, a new tail lamp housing should be used to replace the affected parts. The part numbers are listed below.

Parts are expected to be available on September 11, 1989. Until then normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense. All other order types will be canceled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in place.
