WATER LEAKS FROM A/C EVAP. DRAIN/ INSTALL DRAIN TUBE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988-89 C/K TRUCKS W/AIR CONDITIONING

Some 1988-1989 C/K trucks may experience water leaks from the A/C evaporator drain into the passenger compartment. This condition can be encountered during A/C operation especially, on days with high humidity. Under normal operation, water gathers on the bottom of the evaporator case and drains out, into the engine compartment. However, in some instances, air flowing through the engine compartment can blow the water back toward the opening in the cowl for the evaporator drain. This action may allow the water to seep down into the passenger compartment.

In order to repair this condition a drain tube (P/N 22542866) should be installed on the end of the evaporator drain as shown in Figure 1. This will allow the water to drain down away from the evaporator drain opening.
