SECONDARY DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RETENTION (NEW WEATHERSTRIP)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988-1990 C/K TRUCKS

*THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND REPLACES PRODUCT SERVICE BULLETIN 90-2-164 TO CORRECT VIN BREAKPOINTS FOR PONTIAC EAST AND FORT WAYNE BUILT TRUCKS.

Some 1988-1990 C/K Trucks may experience a condition where the door's secondary weatherstrip, refer to Figure 1 is loose or pulley away from the door opening. In order to correct this condition, a newly designed weatherstrip has been released, P/N #15667234.

The prior design can be discerned from the new design by comparing the ends of the two weatherstrips. The difference appears where the weatherstrip grips the metal flange. In this area the new design, refer to Figure 3 has two contact flaps, where as the previous design has only one contact flap, and saw-tooth-like extensions opposing the flap as shown in Figure 2.

IMPORTANT: The newly designed secondary weatherstrip has been installed on Production vehicles, beginning with the following VIN breakpoints:

OSHAWA:

GMC: K1553096 Chevy: K1218136

PONTIAC EAST:

GMC LE526837 Chevy: LE181004

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
