Owners of some 1991-92 C/K vehicles may comment that the passenger seat back moves forward during moderate braking if no one is in the passenger seat. The motion of the seat back may cause the easy entry feature to operate, allowing the entire seat to slide forward. If the seat is occupied, the seat back will not move.
To correct this condition a new positive stop bolt (P/N 15633613) and Belleville Washer (P/N 15665757) should be installed on both sides of the passenger seat. The Belleville Washer has a special conical shape and MUST be installed with the point side of the cone pointing toward the bolt head. The conical washer is needed to increase friction during forward seat motion.
1. Raise the seat cover and the padding to expose the seat back hinge.
2. Remove the seat hinge positive stop bolt and discard (Figure 1).
3. Install a new positive stop bolt (P/N 15633613) and Belleville Washer (P/N 15665757) with the point of the washer facing the bolt head Refer to Figure 2 and 3.
4. Torque the positive stop bolt to 19-22 N.m. (14-16 lbs. ft.)
5. Verify that the seat no longer moves forward when not desired. If it does, be sure the shoulder of the positive stop bolt is properly seated.
6. Pull the seat cover and the padding back over the hinge assembly.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
