Owners of some 1988-1992 C/K vehicles may comment that water leaks from the A/C evaporator drain into the passenger compartment. This condition can be encountered during A/C operation, especially on days with high humidity. Under normal operation, water gathers on the bottom of the evaporator case and drains out into the engine compartment. However, in some instances, air flowing through the engine compartment can blow the water back toward the opening in the cowl for the evaporator drain. This action may allow the water to seep down into the passenger compartment.
In order to repair this condition, a drain tube (P/N 22542866) should be installed on the end of the evaporator drain (Figure 1). This will allow the water to drain down away from the evaporator drain opening.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
