SUBJECT: INCREASED IDLE SPEED AND THROTTLE CALIBRATION OF 6.5L (L65) TURBOCHARGED DIESEL ENGINE TO IMPROVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION LAUNCH AND ADDRESS LOW POWER CONCERNS (INSTALL REVISED PROM)

MODELS: 1994 CHEVROLET AND GMC C/K TRUCKS WITH 6.5L (L65) DIESEL ENGINE (INJECTION PUMP PART NUMBER 10225929 ONLY) AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION (MT8)

CONDITION: SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: - STALL ON LAUNCH AS CLUTCH PEDAL IS RELEASED - POOR THROTTLE RESPONSE (LOW POWER)

CORRECTION:

SCAN PROM ID AND UPDATE PROM AS DESCRIBED BELOW, IF REQUIRED. THE REVISED PROM WILL INCREASE THE BASE IDLE SPEED TO 700 RPM, AND PROVIDE AN IMPROVED THROTTLE CALIBRATION. IF THE UPDATED PROM DOES NOT CORRECT THE CUSTOMER CONCERN, REFER TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND SERVICE PROCEDURES PROVIDED IN THE SERVICE MANUAL OR DRIVEABILITY, EMISSIONS, AND ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSIS MANUAL.
